Gruntify’s ability to assist in vegetation mapping and management could save millions of dollars across the electricity, environmental and agriculture industries – and that’s just for starters.
Mapping vegetation in the field
Gruntify can make vegetation management much more efficient in a number of ways – from reducing paper-based recording to providing accurate, real-time spatial data direct to field users.
For example, we have now added the entire Ergon Energy network and substations to our custom map layers – both in the Gruntify app and the online web portal. This can help fieldworkers identify and report exactly which powerlines are affected by nearby vegetation and request vegetation clearing/tree trimming. Meanwhile, decision-makers back in the office are given the data and tools to spatially visualize problem spots in real-time, helping plan and manage which areas need attention.
Custom map layers
But that is just the beginning! Ergon’s network map layers were added first because they were available through the QLD open data portal, but we are able to add any spatial layers provided to us.
From a vegetation management perspective, this includes tree and vegetation types/locations, habitat corridors, threatened species locations, priority work areas and more – as well as detailed asset locations.
We will also shortly be adding a range of vegetation management and vegetation assessment layers provided by Queensland Government.
Combining this mobile mapping with Gruntify’s real-time data collection and management creates a powerful tool for vegetation management situations such as vegetation condition monitoring, habitat surveys, tree surveys, vegetation clearing requests and tree trimming requests.
Using Gruntify in the field and office results in streamlined work processes and provision of accurate and up-to-date information – helping save time, money, and also helping companies ensure they are complying with safety codes.
